Leg Extensions

The Benefits - Leg Extension is the best exercise to define and shape the front of the thigh. Leg extensions are great for getting really deep definition in the thighs, especially developing the area around the knees. You can feel the blood rushing into your quadripecs and you can really have a quite nice burn in your front thights.

Execution - Sit on the leg extension and hook your feet under the padded bar. Adjust the backrest so that your knees hang off end of the seat and  place the footpad so that you lower shins touch against the pad. Grasp the handles on the machine making sure your hip stays firmly in position. Extend your legs as far as possible until they are locked out to achieve maximum contraction of the quadriceps. Hold for a second and then lower the weight slowly until your knees are fully stretched out.

Tips - Make sure your quadriceps are fully contracted when your legs are straight. To get the most out of it, hold the contracion for the few seconds. Don’t drop the weights, instead of bring them down slowly until your knees are fully stretched to get full range of motion. You will feel the soreness in yout front thighs in the last few reps. I like to perform lef extensions either in the beginning of the workout to warm up my front thigs or in the end.
